DRMC’s Economic Impact on Local Economy Reaches $189 Million and More Than 2,000 Jobs

Danville Regional Medical Center’s local and regional annual economic impact is estimated to be $189 million in spending that supports 2,032 jobs in the Danville area in 2009, according to a report released today by Chmura Economics & Analytics. The Danville area consists of the city of Danville and the county of Pittsylvania.

The Mercy Award is given annually to an outstanding Danville Regional staff member who demonstrates extraordinary dedication. The 2010 recipient of the Mercy Award is Olive Olenick, who works in the emergency department as a customer liaison.

Dr. Frank Campbell, Board of Trustees Chairman for Danville Regional Medical Center, has been awarded the 2010 Board Leadership Award from LifePoint Hospitals, a leading hospital company focused on providing healthcare services in non-urban communities in 17 states. Dr. Campbell was honored for his extraordinary leadership and service to Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC), where he has served as a member of the board for the past five years and as Board Chair since 2008.
