    Danville Regional Medical Center, along with business and physician groups, would like a way to better manage health care costs and want health consumers to get their money’s worth. They support legislation in the General Assembly that would create a statewide database using health plan or insurance claims information to track population and disease trends, spending and use patterns and service costs in relation to quality. Yet, insurers are wary of how their currently private information will be used and question the true value of the database as proposed.

    Officials announced today that the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) has received full Accreditation with Commendation from the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) Intrastate Accreditation Committee (IAC) demonstrating compliance will all of the Essentials of Continuing Medical Education. This represents the highest accreditation level a CME provider can receive.

  • Health facilities bracing for cuts in Dan River Region

    Danville health care facilities are bracing for less funding, as laid out in Gov. Bob McDonnell’s proposed budget for the next two years. The largest concern for Danville Regional Medical Center and local nursing facilities is the governor’s budget not providing an inflation adjustment for their Medicaid rates, meaning Medicaid reimbursements will cover less of the costs incurred by providers as inflation eats away at the resource. The move is meant to save an estimated $324.7 million over two years.
